Course Selection
Course selection, officially, takes place in late January and February of each school year, but is a continual process. Students choose their classes on-line with a password. They can access the course selection website by clicking on the pencil at the bottom of this page.
Courses should be picked based on the interests, abilities and goals of students upon leaving high school. To assist with this process, students are strongly encouraged to speak to their teachers about future classes, read course descriptions on-line or in ' Chart Your Course', talk to their counselors, and speak to students who have previously taken the class.
Career Research
For planning purposes, students are also encouraged to visit the following websites:
www.myblueprint.ca activation key : fletchersms
www.careercruising.com User name: Peel | Password: 65653
These sites will help with the career research that students need to be doing prior to choosing their courses each school year.
Course Changes
Once a student chooses a course, they are expected to remain in that course, barring special circumstances. At any time, students are encouraged to speak to their teachers and counselors about difficulties they may be having in a particular course.
Where required, counselors will assist with referrals to the myriad of academic support programs available in our school including extra help from teachers, Counting on You for Math and English, Senior Scholars for peer editing, peer tutoring, SLAAM (basketball and homework completion), and peer mentoring.
