Norman D. Gollert served as a Secondary School Principal in Peel for over 25 years at: Streetsville S.S., Brampton Centennial S.S., and Westwood S.S. As an advocate for all students Mr. Gollert was tireless and relentless in his support of student achievement and success. Always recognizing the efforts of all students and proud of their accomplishments, Mr, Gollert had a special place in his heart for those students who prevailed over obstacles to achieve significant academic and personal success in the pursuit of a high school diploma. His personal and professional support of these students was a tremendous source of encouragement. Nothing was too difficult or onerous for him if it meant that one student had a better chance of success.

To assist eligible students who do not have the resources to meet the costs of postsecondary education. To provide financial assistance for educational costs and basic living expenses where students (and their families) do not have the resources to meet these costs. The intent is to supplement, not to replace, the financial resources that you (and your family, if applicable) are expected to contribute. Assistance is based on financial need as established by the federal and/or provincial governments and as determined by the ministry through an assessment of your Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP) application. Educational costs (such as tuition fees, books and supplies, basic living expenses) and the resources that you (and your family, if applicable) are expected to contribute are taken into consideration. It is not the purpose of student financial assistance to supply all the assistance you may need to meet your educational and living costs

The Vari Scholarship/Bursary is awarded annually to students who embody both academic excellence and a proven desire to pursue a future career in teaching. The competition is open to all qualified students who have a serious interest in pursuing a career in teaching at the primary/junior or secondary level. The successful candidate(s) must register at Victoria College in the University of Toronto to receive the award. Application deadline: February 1, 2010.

The Wolfe Entrance Scholarship recognizes academic excellence, volunteerism, and participation in sports and physical fitness. The scholarship is valued at $6,000 available for students entering the current academic year, with the possibility of the award continuing for up to three years at the value of $6,000 each year. Primary selection criteria for the Wolfe Family Entrance scholarship are academic average, followed by involvement in community service and physical activities.

Schulich Scholarships in Science and Education are presented to select students admitted to the Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree at Nipissing University with a focus in education (BSc with Concurrent Education or Orientation to Teaching). 100 scholarships are available with a value of $5,000 each. Recipients must have a minimum 75% grade average in their best six 4U/4M final grades and demonstrate strong academic achievement, community volunteerism and financial need. An application is required.
The BBPA National Scholarship Fund was established in 1986 by the Black Business and Professional Association (BBPA) and is dedicated to supporting and promoting the achievement of academic excellence by Black Canadian youth pursuing post-secondary education. The BBPA National Scholarship Fund provides scholarships to Black students attending a college or university in Canada and career counseling to high school students. Recipients of BBPA National Scholarships must be Canadian citizens or permanent residents between the ages of 17 and 30 and must demonstrate high academic achievement, financial need and community involvement.
The RBC Royal Bank Scholarship for New Canadians is designed to encourage young people who have immigrated to Canada to share their experience of adjusting to life in a new country. 12 scholarships valued at $3,500 each are available.
KidsFest is a non-profit organization committed to helping bridge the gap between the haves and the have-nots amongst Canada's children. Through education, the organization provides the building blocks necessary for elementary aged children to break the vicious cycle of generational poverty. The KidsFest Pathway of Hope Scholarship Foundation has been established to offer financial assistance to students continuing their education at the Canadian University or College levels. It is available to students across Canada who are currently in their final year of high school (outside of Quebec) or final year of CEGEP (in Quebec).
The Ontario Amateur Softball Association has a scholarship program rewarding the scholastic and academic excellence of players at the Midget and Junior level enrolled in either a community college or university. It is funded by a plan that accepts donations and receives significant proceeds from the Jack Cook Classic held each July.
Selection is based on high school academic standing and results of the portfolio interview. In selecting recipients of the BMO Financial Group Awards, a Selection Committee, consisting of three faculty members, will also consider the supporting documentation demonstrating community involvement and the required creative statement.
The Canadian Printing Industries Scholarship Trust Fund was initiated by the Canadian Printing Industries Association in 1971, through the efforts of a group of visionary printing industry executives. Since then, hundreds of thousands of dollars have been donated, as a result of the generosity of firms and individuals associated with the printing industries in Canada. The primary objective of the Fund is to attract the most talented young people available to the printing industry by providing financial assistance to them while they are enrolled in a graphic arts management or technical program.
The Dominion Institute is challenging young Canadians across the country to express their views on some important issues facing Canadians today. Using the book Great Questions of Canada, students are asked to write an essay on one of the six Great Questions debate topics. The winning entry will receive a $2000 cash prize, have their essay published on the website and win a trip to Ottawa for the award ceremonies in 2010. Additional prizes will also be awarded for classrooms who participate!
The Healthy Lifestyles Scholarship was established July 2008 in memory of Joan Whitworthe. Joan was involved in working with individuals as an occupational therapist. She is recognized for her devotion in promoting a healthy lifestyle. Thanks to family and friends, in her memory, a scholarship of $5,000 has been created. The scholarship is awarded annually to a student (male or female).
Since 1992, the Union Plus Scholarship Program has awarded more than $2.4 million to students of working families who want to begin or continue their post-secondary education. Over 1,700 families have benefited from our commitment to higher education. The Union Plus Scholarship Program is offered through the Union Plus Education Foundation. The scholarship program is open to students attending or planning to attend a college or university, a community college, or a technical college or trade school. Applicants for scholarships are evaluated according to academic ability, social awareness, financial need and appreciation of labour. Scholarship applications are judged by a committee of impartial post secondary educators. Applications are first reviewed by a panel of independent career professionals. Semi-finalists are chosen based on a point scale, and their applications are then provided to judges for further review and selection of finalists and awards.
The Canadian War Museum is dedicated to the study of Canadian military history and the effects of war upon Canada and its people. The Museum also recognizes the need to assist students who plan to continue their studies in the field of history. The Colonel Douglas H. Gunter History Awards have been instituted to support and encourage these students. The total value of the Awards consists of five prizes of $1000 each, to be distributed to five winning students.
Hydro One Brampton is pleased to offer a $1,000 scholarship for grade 12 students attending schools in Brampton. This scholarship is open to all grade 12 secondary school students who will be attending a recognized Canadian college or university in the fall of 2010. Interested candidates are required to complete and submit an application form, including a one-page typewritten essay on one of three electricity relate topics by Monday, May 10, 2010. Retail Council of Canada, in partnership with industry sponsors, will award more than $75,000 in scholarships and benefits to students entering or currently enrolled in a business, marketing or retail-related program at a Canadian post-secondary institution. Students who receive the scholarships will not only benefit from financial assistance for their post-secondary education, but will also attend STORE 2010 in Toronto where they will have the opportunity to engage with the brightest professionals in the Canadian retail industry.
The Ontario Hostelry Institute was established in 1977 by hospitality industry leaders concerned over the scarcity of well-trained and educated hospitality professionals. The Institute undertakes various projects whose primary objectives are to serve as catalysts in raising standards of post-secondary hospitality programs; to serve as an advocate for the industry in matters relating to post-secondary education and training including apprenticeship; and to promote and recognize professional excellence in Canada’s food service-hospitality industry. The OHI is offering eight (8) College Entrance Awards to Ontario high school students graduating this year. Appilcants must enrol this September in any one of the following minimum two-year food service and/or hospitality diploma programs at an Ontario community college (culinary, hotel, tourism, food and beverage, hospitality, resort, events).
The Toronto Real Estate Board is offering two $5,000 scholarships to two graduating high school students pursuing post-secondary education. All applicants must complete and submit the following: A written essay (500 words or less on a specified topic), a detailed resume, two brief letters of reference, a current academic transcript, and a copy of proof of acceptance to a post-secondary institution (when available).

The Jean Lumb Foundation is a Canadian, not-for-profit organization that was established as a charitable foundation in 2008. Its purpose is to advance education by providing scholarships to high school students of Chinese heritage. Awards will be given to four outstanding students who have achieved excellence in academics, athletics, the arts and community services.
The Congress of Black Women of Canada is a non-profit organization, founded in 1973. Its mission is to provide a forum for black women to identify and address issues that affect them, their families, and the community. In hopes of assisting graduating students, the Brampton Chapter of the Congress of Black Women of Canada is offering scholarship(s) to graduating students of African of Caribbean heritage. The purpose of this scholarship is to honour the scholastic achievement and community involvement of young black students and to encourage the maximization of their potential by providing financial assistance.
